Using Yohm to plan your interior detail at an early stage will help you to avoid costly or disappointing hindsights down the track. You can truly achieve the maximum from your both your space and spend.
Meet Heidi Meyer, Director of Yohm, and discover what makes her unique to the world of interior design.
Head Designer
Head designer and founding director of the Yohm group of Companies, Heidi Meyer was born to Dutch parents in the Blue Mountains, NSW Australia and relocated to London in 1994 where she began a successful editorial and media career in fashion, interior, travel and lifestyle magazines and went on to study Interior Design.
Trained in the UK as an Interior Architect, Heidi has studied design from the 11th Century onward, giving her a unique insight into design. She brought her classic design knowledge to a contemporary audience as she designed interiors and restored period and listed buildings, throughout London’s historical heart.
Having lived, worked, travelled and designed for more than a decade across six continents, Heidi draws on her vast international knowledge of fashion, elite homes, stylish hotels, and wonderful places, to influence the detail of each and every project.
Each of Heidi’s designs begins by listening carefully to the brief of the client. It is Heidi’s aim to create for each client an intensely beautiful yet incredibly comfortable space, reflective of not simply fashion alone, but rather the intimate undertones and delicate layers of one’s life and personality. “I love nothing more than when an interior captivates me to want to know more about the inhabitants. I feel satisfaction when the intricate layers and the richness of one’s life and story have been aptly expressed; played out in the subtle detail, woven with thoughtfulness between the furnishings, accessories, upon the walls and throughout the space.”
Uninhibited by the use of colour and form, Heidi knows when to make a statement and when to hold back, “interiors can be elegant whilst at the same time being really fun! My interiors generally evoke a sense of wonderment; marrying the bold and over scaled with the understated and elegant to create a set of indelible contrasts. My favourite spaces are thought provoking spaces, where the interior as well as the exterior elements can be admired, great conversation can be had, where laughter happens, and luxurious comfort abounds!”
When asked about her preferred ‘style’ Heidi explains that each property design is truly unique, dependent upon its location, historic prominence, purpose, the lives and personalities of its intended occupants and the intimate individual expressions of these persons. “I am influenced by many beautiful things but I pride myself on having no preference for any predetermined style. I like to create a captivating space that compels and inspires, but sophistication, practicality and function are all also at the forefront of what I do. The space must function seamlessly, as much as it is aesthetically perfect.”
Heidi makes a point of attending the Milan and Paris trade shows as often as possible and keeps up to date with what is on trend. She has a penchant for sourcing exquisite reclaimed materials across the globe and a passion for designing practical kitchens.
Heidi is concerned with creating sustainable and healthy interior spaces that lead to an enhanced wellbeing. She works wherever possible with ecological, organic and environmentally sustainable materials. “Conscientious interiors need not be hessian coloured and boring,” states Heidi.
In 2013 Heidi and her husband Kim relocated back to the Sunshine Coast of Australia to begin a family. Heidi’s current projects include being the Visionary, Creative Director and Lead Designer of a luxury Eco Resort and Spa for Buderim on the Sunshine Coast. In creating this proposal, she has recruited and manages a team of over 40 experts from diverse industries. She attributes her success to “always working with the best possible people and teams”.
A mother and philanthropist, Heidi’s interests include gardening, yoga, architecture, history, design, building sustainably, luxury hotels, exquisite fabrics, books, photography, biodynamic and organic foods, health, natural medicine, luxury travel, Sunday picnics and occasionally glamping. She has a penchant for teacups, plays the piano and enjoys an outdoor fire with a beneficial glass of wine.

How a well dressed and glamorously draped window makes the heart sing. How is it that we see so few traditionally draped windows in this Sunshine State?
